What is a Pegboard?

You didn’t know the word “pegboard” before coming here either? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! There isn’t a perfect translation in French — sometimes you’ll see “panneau perforé” or “panneau modulable.” In English, peg means “peg/dowel” and board means “board.”

Basically, a pegboard is a board with regularly spaced holes into which you insert pegs, hooks, shelves, and accessories to organize or display items. Its advantage: modularity. You can change the layout in seconds, without tools, according to your needs.
How to install a pegboard on the wall?

Here is our installation manual in French and in English

We have developed a simple, invisible fixing system. You need 4 screws (minimum), positioned using your pegboard itself.
Screws and multi-material wall plugs are always supplied with our pegboards.
On what type of wall can I install an Aire Pegboard?

The Aire Pegboards can be installed on different types of walls, such as walls made of:

  • Plaster
  • Drywall (type BA13 or Drywall in English).
  • Concrete
  • Wood
  • and even brick walls.

It is important to properly insert the multi-material anchors before inserting your screws to ensure a secure and sturdy installation.
Are the mounting screws visible?

We have developed an invisible fixing system. We supply the screws and wall plugs, which you position using the pegboard itself. The wall plugs are suitable for all wall types.
How much weight can an Aire pegboard hold?

To keep things simple, we take the least favourable case: a plasterboard wall. A 15 mm thick pegboard (P15) holds 16 kg per hole and 90 kg/m². A 9 mm pegboard (P9) holds half that: 8 kg per hole and 45 kg/m². On a brick or concrete wall, the safety margin is even greater.

Each screw holds 40 kg in shear, and the fischer DuoPower 6 x 30 wall plugs supplied take 15 kg in single plasterboard, 50 kg in solid brick and 95 kg in concrete (manufacturer's recommended loads, safety factors included).

Many customers use their pegboard as a bookcase. For heavy loads or an old wall, get in touch and we'll check the project with you.
What are Aire pegboards made of?

Mainly Finnish birch plywood, S or B grade on the visible face, in 9, 15, 18 or 21 mm thicknesses. It's a dense, stable and very strong wood that takes heavy loads and ages well. Accessories are made from French solid wood, stainless steel or steel depending on the model. Everything is cut, sanded, oiled and assembled in our Paris workshop. Can a pegboard be installed in a bathroom, a kitchen or outdoors?

Yes, as long as you choose the right panel. For damp rooms (bathroom, kitchen, laundry room), we offer birch plywood protected by three coats of oil, moisture-resistant MDF or Polygood, a recycled plastic panel that is unaffected by water. For outdoor use (terrace, balcony, garden), we use a technical plywood designed to withstand the weather. Tell us the intended use when you order or request a quote, and we'll point you to the right option.
Can several pegboards be joined together, and are the accessories compatible with every panel?

Yes to both. Panels can be placed side by side to form a continuous composition (see side-by-side layouts), and every Aire accessory is compatible with every pegboard in the range, whatever its colour or thickness. So you can start small and add to your setup over time.
Can I use Aire accessories on a pegboard from another brand?

Unfortunately, there is no standard in the world of Pegboards. If you use a Pegboard from another brand, there is a good chance that our accessories will not work. If you have a pegboard with exactly the same technical specifications, then it might work, but we do not guarantee it.
What are the maximum dimensions of a custom pegboard?

A single panel can measure up to 2950 x 1450 mm. Beyond that, we join several panels side by side while keeping the hole grid continuous: accessories can then go on either panel, as if there were only one. Ideal for covering an entire office, shop or workshop wall. See our examples of side-by-side panel layouts.
Can a custom pegboard have a special shape or non-perforated areas?

Yes. Custom-made isn't just about dimensions: the panel can take whatever shape you like (rounded, trapezoid, cut around a socket or radiator…), include solid, non-perforated areas for a logo, a mirror or simply a lighter design, and use a 60 or 90 mm grid instead of the standard 30 mm spacing for a cleaner look. Our accessories remain compatible with all these grids.
Which colours are available? Can I choose a RAL colour?

Our pegboards are finished with a tinted oil that lets the birch grain show through. You can choose from our five standard colours, black, white, blue, yellow and green (see Our materials), or, for custom projects, any RAL colour: the oil is then ordered specially for your project, which adds about 3 weeks to the production time.
How do I request a quote for a custom project?

Describe your project (dimensions, thickness, colour, accessories, a photo of the wall if possible) using our contact form: we'll get back to you quickly with a quote and, if needed, a drawing. You can also design your panel yourself with the configurator to get an instant price.
What are the manufacturing lead times for a Pegboard?

We make every Aire product to order. Allow 10 to 14 days between your order and the delivery of your pegboard and accessories. For bulky orders, we confirm the lead time by email.
Do you deliver everywhere, and how much does pegboard delivery cost?

Yes, we ship to France, Europe and worldwide, and you can also collect your order free of charge from our workshop (Paris 18th). Shipping costs depend on the parcel weight and are shown before payment:

  • France: free delivery from €69. Below that, from €4 (up to 2 kg), €7 up to 5 kg, €14 up to 15 kg, €35 up to 30 kg.
  • Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Eastern Europe: free from €129, otherwise from €5.
  • Germany, Switzerland, Austria, United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia: free from €129, otherwise from €11.
  • United States and Canada: free from 199 USD, otherwise from €17.
  • Rest of the world: free from €399, otherwise from €39.

Allow 10 to 14 days for delivery (everything is made to order in our Paris workshop). For large formats or bulky orders, we confirm transport and lead time with the quote.
Can I collect my order directly from the workshop?

Of course, and it's free. Choose workshop collection when you order (or let us know) and we'll tell you as soon as everything is ready. The workshop is in Paris 18th, at CAP 18 (189 rue d'Aubervilliers, voie D, atelier 6), open Monday to Friday from 10:30 am to 6 pm. It's also a chance to see the panels, finishes and accessories in person.
I would like to return the Aire products, is that possible?

Yes, you can return your product within 30 days of shipment. Items must be returned in secure packaging and in as-new condition. Contact our customer service to follow the return procedure.

Exception: made-to-measure products (custom dimensions, colours or configurations) cannot be returned or exchanged, in accordance with Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code. Return shipping costs are paid by the customer.
What warranty do Aire products have? What if my parcel arrives damaged?

All our products come with the 2-year legal guarantee of conformity. If your parcel arrives damaged, refuse it or note your reservations with the carrier and let us know the same day with a few photos: we'll resend the parts concerned. And if a part breaks or wears out over time, get in touch; we can often make a replacement individually.
Do you offer trade prices or bulk orders?

Yes. We fit out offices, shops, hotels, trade show stands and workshops. Professionals benefit from volume discounts, VAT invoices (or VAT-free invoices for purchases from abroad), and we can arrange bulk or express orders to meet an opening or trade show date. Describe your needs using the form and we'll get back to you with a quote.
Where are the products offered by Aire made?

Aire is a design and manufacturing workshop. All our products and accessories are made in France, in our own workshop. We are based in Paris's 18th arrondissement at CAP 18, an industrial building dedicated to urban manufacturing.
Where do your materials come from, and is the packaging recyclable?

Aire holds the Fabriqué à Paris (Made in Paris) label: design and production take place in our CAP 18 workshop. We work with French solid wood and European wood panels (Finnish birch plywood), through short supply chains. Our packaging is recyclable and we keep plastic to the bare minimum.
Is the payment method secure?

Our payment methods are fully secure thanks to SSL encryption.
How do I care for and clean my pegboard and accessories?

You can use a slightly damp cloth
