Christmas is approaching, and it's the time when we wonder about the decorations to put up at home to create a warm atmosphere. But this year, we can't ignore the many challenges facing the world. So, in the midst of COP27, after the megafires, inflation, and difficulties accessing raw materials... This is why we find it difficult to take a position. Yet, we are looking for solutions to renew our know-how and adapt it to a more sustainable production method. This is why we offer you the Eco-Friendly Wooden Christmas Tree.
The circular economy at Aire
We 've been working on the challenges of the circular economy since our beginnings. The goal is to identify used resources and then give them a second life. For example, we've made pegboards from old desks that have been sent to the scrap heap.
In September , we completed a project for the company Ovaom and the La Gaité Lyrique cultural center. Ovaom sourced reused materials to make its future Pegboard objects. The Reserve des Arts in Pantin is a place for circular and responsible creation. You'll find many reused materials from the cultural and events sectors there. Ovaom provided us with wooden panels that had already been used during a previous event in Paris.
Eco-friendly wooden Christmas tree
So we received a stock of OSB wood panels. OSB is a wood recomposed from wood strips 💫. It is considered a wood-based building material . The acronym OSB stands for "Oriented Strand Board", or in French " Oriented strand board " We can say that we recycled recycled wood panels... Are you still following? 😄
Following this, we always have a small stock of OSB in the workshop. Angèle proposed a challenge to the team: Why not produce a limited edition of eco-friendly wooden Christmas trees? We immediately liked the idea, and we all participated in the project.
The eco-friendly wooden Christmas tree is made of 22 mm thick OSB. We offer the tree in two different sizes. We also have an option with 3D-printed pins and green and red baubles. This allows you to easily create a sustainable Christmas decoration.
As a final option, you can add wooden or 3D-printed numbers. This option will allow you to easily create an Advent calendar. If you're new to this tradition, I invite you to discover it. It's a unique opportunity to make chocolates available at home.
