Christmas is approaching, and it's the time of year when we wonder about the decorations to put up at home to create a warm atmosphere. But this year, we cannot ignore the many global challenges. So, in the midst of COP27, after mega-fires, inflation, and difficulties in accessing raw materials... That's why we find it difficult to take a stance. Yet, we are looking for solutions to renew our expertise and adapt it to a more sustainable production method. This is why we offer you the ecological wooden Christmas tree.
The circular economy at Aire
Since our beginnings, we have been working on circular economy issues. The goal is therefore to identify used resources and give them a second life. We have thus made Pegboards from old desks sent to the scrap heap.
In September, we completed a project for the company Ovaom and the cultural center La Gaité Lyrique. Ovaom sourced reusable materials to make its future Pegboard objects. The Réserve des Arts in Pantin is a place for circular and solidarity creation. You can find many reusable materials from the cultural and event sector there. This is how Ovaom provided us with wooden panels that had already been used at a previous event in Paris.
Ecological wooden Christmas tree
We therefore received a stock of OSB wooden panels. OSB is a reconstituted wood made from wood strands 💫. It is considered a wood-based building material. The acronym OSB stands for "Oriented Strand Board." We can say that we recycled recycled wooden panels... Are you still following? 😄
Following this, we still have a small stock of OSB in the workshop. Angèle challenged the team. Why not make a limited series of ecological wooden Christmas trees? We immediately liked the idea, and we all participated in the project.
The ecological wooden Christmas tree is made of 22 mm thick OSB. We offer the tree in 2 different sizes. Then we have an option with pins and green and red 3D printed balls. This allows you to easily create a durable Christmas decoration.
Last option, you can add wooden or 3D printed numbers. This option will allow you to easily create an advent calendar. If you are unfamiliar with this tradition, I invite you to discover it. It is a unique opportunity to have chocolates available at home.
