At Aire, innovation seamlessly meets aesthetics, creating high-end modular products that never cease to amaze. It's in this spirit of creativity that we had the honor of collaborating with Grégoire Vorpe, a pixel artist renowned for his striking mosaic frescoes. This unique collaboration perfectly reflects our shared commitment to quality, sustainability, and design. Discover the behind-the-scenes of this artistic adventure through Grégoire's words.

An Artist with a Mosaic Soul

Grégoire Vorpe, known as Grég, is a pixel artist based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Since 2018, he has been creating one-of-a-kind works of art using paper collages, acrylics, Indian ink, and wood and plastic assemblages. His creations, often inspired by societal and environmental themes, are truly modern mosaics that challenge and captivate.

The Spark of Collaboration

Grégoire's inspiration for collaborating with Aire came from research into pixel art. Seduced by our products and values, he saw Aire as an ideal partner to merge his art with our modular Pegboards. His enthusiasm for this collaboration is palpable: "I found this startup's products and values to be in line with my artistic approach, and I thought a collaboration would be fun," he tells us.

Panel Selection and Preparations

Grégoire opted for a 48 x 48 cm natural wood panel, a size he deemed ideal for a prototype. He prepared his work by meticulously planning every detail of the image he wanted to reproduce: a magnificent macaw parrot. To integrate the "Aire" elements, he used acrylic painting techniques with a palette knife and masking tape, creating clean, vivid areas of color.

Technical Challenges and Innovative Solutions

Painting on a pegboard presented unique challenges. To overcome this, Grégoire filled the unused holes with putty, then re-drilled them for a flawless finish. He also temporarily filled the necessary holes with dowels, a technique that proved effective. This ingenious approach is a testament to his adaptability and technical mastery.

A Smooth and Exciting Collaboration

The collaboration with Aire was marked by seamless communication and instant synergy. "I emailed Aire to tell them about my collaborative project. Thirty minutes later, I received an enthusiastic response," says Grégoire. This rapid response and constant support made it possible to bring this work to fruition quickly and efficiently.
